Treck, Inc. Releases Universal Plug and Play for Embedded Devices

Treck's new embedded Universal Plug and Play software ideal for consumer electronics

CINCINNATI , OH (February 18, 2005) Teck Incorporated, a leading designer and distributor of embedded internet protocols today announced the release of their Universal Plug and Play software development kit (SDK). The company's new product is the latest in a comprehensive list of protocol software designed specifically for embedded systems.

Treck Universal Plug and Play SDK is a technology which enables developers to design network devices that can be controlled by Microsoft Windows clients. Examples of Universal Plug and Play enabled network devices include NAT firewalls, A/V media servers and media renderers, network-enabled security cameras, items found in the digital home such as smart appliances, garage-door openers et cetera. Universal Plug and Play technology ensures that a user can quickly and simply interface different devices from different manufacture.

"We are pleased to announce the Universal Plug and Play SDK as the latest offering in our software product line. Treck Universal Plug and Play, Web Server and TCP/IP protocol stack form a high performance full-featured solution for small consumer electronics” said Paul Martin, Co-founder and CEO of Treck Incorporated.

The Treck Universal Plug and Play network device implements a standardized Device Control Protocol (DCP) expressed in XML, which consists of a XML device description page (based on an Universal Plug and Play Forum device template standard), and also for each service that the device implements, a XML service description page (based on an Universal Plug and Play Forum service template standard). The network device also implements a web server that can serve up these XML description pages to the control point when requested. Treck Universal Plug and Play requires the Treck web server for SOAP, GENA and also for serving up the device description and service description XML documents.
